Since it is grossly overpriced compared to the rest of the industrialized world (2X) then I figure you have to love it to defend it. I understand your reasoning but it's just too simplistic. The debate is hyped binary, not at all thoughtful or nuanced. I think the current system sucks. But some of the alternatives are even worse. And as for the "2X," a Lexus costs more than twice as much as a Chevrolet. Does that make the Chevrolet the better choice? Not necessarily. Cost is not the only factor in any purchase.
