Some of OPEC already has decoupled from the USD, like Iran. And when it happened there was minimal effect. Mish's arguement is well reasoned, the only counterarguement is that in the period preceeding a switch from dollars to euros there may be a realignment of currency reserves. However, those reserves in the long run represent just a fraction of the flow of currency, and this realignment really has little to do with what you quote prices of a commodity in.
