Rudy will absolutely work to maintain the coalition....it is his only hope of winning. Look even now at the "we must stop Hillary at any costs" approach being taken by the Republican candidates. No matter who the nominee is, they will first urge, then shame, the republican constituencies back into line by waving the bloody towel of a Hillary Presidency (gasp!).

I just don't know if it will work. Rudy has so much baggage with some social conservatives, they may just stay home.

But for Rudy to win, they must vote and for him.

If the election were held today Clinton wins every state Kerry won and adds Ohio (easily) and Florida (more closely). Plus states like Virginia, Arkansas and Missouri are absolutely up for grabs. If she picks Richardson as the VP, she locks down New Mexico and maybe adds Arizona.

If Rudy picks Huckabee as a VP, he might go a ways to mend fences, but could Huckabee ACCEPT Rudy.....after all, he is the guy claiming the principles of social conservatism.

"...and I believe he will work to maintain the coalition."

Either that... or else form a *new* coalition.

(Times change... Parties likewise.)
