Invaded? - Yes

Conquered? - Well... We the US military did "overcome by force of arms" (overcame Saddam's regime), but its arguable if you could legitimately say that what the US dis was to "gain or acquire by force of arms : subjugate"

m-w.com

We did serve as a temporary occupying power, but we never planed to stay in that capacity, or to annex or otherwise rule Iraq, and we did hand over power to an Iraqi government.

As for the rest. The temporary unelected government we handed over power to, wasn't quite a puppet regime (although I'll grant it relied heavily on the US). The later election was about as open and fair as could possibly have been expected, and we did not select the candidates. The elected government has less control over the country, and less wide spread percieved legitimacy than most governments, but that doesn't mean it has no legitimacy or mandate.

define 'common', 'accepted' and 'typical'.

not rare or unusual, occurring or appearing frequently, widespread

considered acceptable, allowed, broadly supported, generally approved of, not subject to sanction or punishment

normal mode of operating, very frequent or common occurance, something to be expected, an essential characteristic of a group, or something representative of a group (meaning that you would expect a soldier to be a war criminal, if war crimes where something soldiers typically did)

Yes, with rooftop evacuations and helicopters dumped in the mediterranean would be one guess.

That's something that's relatively unlikely in this situation. Even if we give up on the effort there is no NVA to role in to Green Zone.

Its rather odd that you go from

"I, OTOH, am very enthusiastic about it, for it will help to bring about a better world; progress are indeed being made"

to

"the Iraq episode is a senseless strategic error based on manipulated stupidity that is costing mucho monetary inflation actioned by folks who cares not one iota for truth and innocent lives, cannot be lost, not likely to be won, cannot be stopped, and has no one obvious counterparty to negotiate with in order to end. IOW, it is endless hell for millions within Mesopotamia, and for countless wallets all around the planet, full stop."

Its like I'm talking to two different people

"helicopters dumped in the mediterranean"

I presume you meant the Persian Gulf. It wouldn't be convenient to cart them all to the Mediterranean.
