>Logically, I agree with you. However, nearly all positive, radical changes have come as a lightning bolt, not as an approaching storm that takes years to develop. It is sort of like the debate over sticking a toe in a river created by melting snow, or to just jump in.<

So if the US totally withdraws from the Middle East before we and the rest of our trading partners are energy independent, can I blame you "IF" the radicals attempt revolutions in several countries, the already radical regimes get more aggressive against their neighbors, other significant countries like Russia, China, etc... use their power to seize more control over the oil resources, the price of oil hits $350, the US (and world) goes into a deep recession, radicals step up their attacks against Israel, and Israel, (not being the pink panty wearing type), starts blowing the shit out everyone that even might be responsible etc...

I just want to make sure I can blame someone for most Americans being at home, broke, unemployed, cold, unable to drive their cars, but happy that the Muslims stopped hating us so much for having bases in Kuwait and Iraq (since the Saudis threw us out after 9/11 as Osama requested), a fleet in the area, and for keeping the extremists at bay. ;-)

Honestly, I don't see that as such a remote possibility.

Fortunately, a complete almost immediate withdrawal has a zero percent chance of happening even if Hillary gets elected. In fact, if she does get elected, I expect more of the same, with a slight face saving twist. But she will get almost full support from the mainstream left, silence from most of the extreme left, support from most at CNN, MSNBC, the major networks, the major left leaning newpapers etc...

We will however see a complete reversal by Fox, Hannity, Rush etc... who will call the war effort a failure and her efforts abysmal. ;-)
