The difference between Rudy and the other GOP candidates is that most of the GOP candidates (well, maybe Romney excluded to some extend) are from states and districts where most people already agree with them. It does not take a whole lot for those guys to win.

Rudy, on the other is used to starting an argument in a place where 90% of people start out disagreeing with him, and eventually he ends up persuading enough of the 90% to win the debate. The last person with this ability was Ronald Reagan, incidentally the last GOP candidate to carry New York State. Rudy can carry New York State (and New Jersey). Without those 2 states, there is no math that can add up to a Hillary victory.
