With all its shortcomings the Corvair was surprisingly enjoyable
and driven properly safer than Ralph Nader would have it. The 63 turbo I had was 140 ci and almost 150 hp. It had a single barrel side draft carb from the 50's which was miserable and I had a 2bbl Holly-Webber adapted that was fabulous. Even with that it got around 30 m/g.

The guy I got it from had a customer's 65 Monza in the drive with a mid engine mounted 455 Olds!!!! That improved the power to weight ratio and the weight distribution:):)
