On another topic, this will be one of the first quarters Cisco reports earnings without SciAtl propping up their top and bottom line growth figures. So it'll be interesting to see how fast Cisco grew organically this quarter over the prior year's same quarter. Some analysts seem to think it will be a decent quarter...

When using options, one must pay attention to alternative strategies. Writing naked puts exposes the investor to identical risks and rewards as writing covered calls. The key difference is the prices. It pays to check both before initiating positions.

Of course, for anyone wishing to generate profits while holding a long position in a security during a "flat spell", writing covered calls is the correct approach.
