The US refused to prosecute in the matter --- claimed there was no violation of the law.

(Soros himself, to this day, denies that he benefited from insider information in the matter --- but of course, that is what we would expect a person to say. Personally, I put more faith in the US government's opinion of the matter... since it is SO WELL KNOWN how the French government has often connived or cheated to benefit or advantage their own French corporations. And, in this particular case, the French were very badly embarrassed by the information that was revealed --- they had plenty of reason to want to 'get even' with a show trial.)
