"In the last couple of years, I am seeing more and more of my friends returning to India. Everyone I know has at least started thinking about it and they talk about it all the time. Most of them are waiting for US citizenship which on average takes a ridiculously long 10 years -- five years for permanent residency and five more past that point."

If the best and brightest stay here, they get paid in USD, just like groundskeepers and motel maids from Mexico, on whom the immigration laws are based. Our educational institutions attract the world's best, and our political institutions chase them right back out, after we have spent our money on education, and before we reclaim it in productivity.

Something needs to change in the USA.

My argument wasn't that there aren't other smart people in the world. My argument was simply that this doesn't detract one iota from the vast intelligence and knowledge we have in the USA.

We have no shortage of "Einsteins" in the USA and we never will. Are there other intelligent beings in other countries? Of course. So what? This has always been true and has never stopped the USA from being the leader in most things (e.g., computer science, medicine, rocket science, atomic energy, etc).

I have no fear whatsoever that all of our intelligent people will choose to move to India. On the contrary, most highly intelligent people who live abroad would rather live here.

best...
