I don't think the BTU equivalent price between natural gas and oil is relevant any more. The near $100 bbl price of oil reflects the value of oil's highest and best use, it's use as transportation fuel. Nobody in their right mind uses oil as boiler fuel if they can possibly avoid it and anyone who could switch from oil to gas did so years ago.

Natural gas now competes with coal, not oil, to power electrical generation.
