Personally i think that if israel didnt exist we still would be a target. It has everything to do with colonialism, imperialism, oil, religion. Israel/Pal thing stokes the fire, but not much more. What you seem to be advocating is abandoning allies and fellow democracies in the face of threats from others. Taiwan and Tibet might be examples. Kurds might be next. You cant make FP worrying about which crazies are going to fly planes into your buildings. By that logic we should have surrendered to the soviets every time they rattled their sabres.
