carranza, I think at some point they will be forced by the market to get rid of subsidies. The money to fund the subsidies has to come from somewhere.

Market Eye: China Hikes Prices as Shortages Bite

China raised fuel prices by around 10% Thursday in a bid to ease a worsening supply crisis. Retail prices were increased by 500 yuan ($66) per ton amid growing fuel shortages that have sparked violent clashes at service stations, resulting in at least one death.
