The island dominating the entrance of Hormuz Straight all belong to Iran.

Qeshm and Larak islands.

If I'd be an insurance company I'd be very worried of having a dozen super tankers inside for as long as any conflict lasts.

If the insurance companies quadruple the cost of taking a tanker through Hormuz, not many will be willing to do it, even with US Navy escorts. It becomes financially impossible, and the crude price would go through the roof.

All the Iranians have to do is cause trouble over and over to achieve their aim.
