I waited a bit to see if anyone commented negatively on the off topic post before I replied. Even with no negative responses from Dale or from the other readers and posters here I think we should keep this very limited. There are a lot of other threads that this subject can be discussed on. Its not entirely off topic because globalization includes and affects Africa, but your focusing on the US side of it.

A lower currency isn't totally a bad thing. And to the extent you think our trade deficit is a problem a lower currency helps solve that problem.

Higher priced oil is only an effect of globalization in the sense that globalization allows more economic growth/wealth/production. People are wealthier and consume more oil. The fact that the world is wealthier and produces more is a good thing not a bad one.
