Re: "Claim the 12 miles and flip off the UN." It's a TWO HUNDRED MILE EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE (practically as large again as the entire continental United States....) And also the LEGAL RIGHT to extract profits for ALL THE REST OF THE OCEAN'S FLOORS, far beyond our 200 mile exclusive zone. And, lastly, the UN did not negotiate this treaty, Goldie. Hell... most of the UN would probably be happy to see us left on the outside, looking in... with our faces pressed up against the glass while we watch everyone else slurp down the oil and methane hydrates. They'd probably enjoy laughing at us. :-)
