I think many people are still acutely aware of the threat- which is why no one has used them thus far. I do agree with you that there has been more chat about using them, and this administration has been particularly problematic with its discussions and beliefs about the use of tactical nukes. see: converge.org.nz But when we return to a more logical administration, and one less hobbled by strange foreign policy myths devoutly believed, I think we'll all be much safer from nuclear weapons- at least major exchanges. This administration you do need to worry about- they're kind of crazy, but down the road I think calmer heads will prevail, if we can just get through the 2008 election and NOT elect Rudy, who might be an even bigger nut than Bush.

Hi Bill. And thanks for the post. I get so tired of being misunderstood-lol. Like you, I am an old man now. You hit the nail on the head. So smart of you! Yes, we are confronting "brush fires with reckless abandon". Tempting nuclear war for no reason at all. This administration is the most dangerous since the civil war. Besides their undermining the constitution. I watch GW and can clearly see he does not understand what he is doing. I play high stakes poker and make most of my living as a mineing stock trader 9reason I am on SI) specializing in stock options (warrants in Canada). And I am pretty good at both i.e. I know what understanding "seeing the game" means. When I play in a samll poker game 3/6, 5/10 hold em, I can clearly see they cannot see the game. They are very easy to beat. I also can see how difficult it is for most people to understand stock options. I have been trading them for almost 30 years. GW and the neo cons are 2/4 poker players. They do not understand the game at all. The do not understand "odds". They do not even udnerstand there is no such thing as luck. Just like so many people who gamble when the odds are agaisnt them and do not understand they have no chance of winning long term. No chance at all!! A dice player will ALWAYS lose in the long run. And so that is why I feel nuclear war is inevitable. Even with John and Bobby kennedy it was very risky brinksmanship e.g. Everyone should watch the movie 13 days which was based on transcripts. One can see it in what the neo cons do or just watching GW's eyes. And just as he was frozen, like a deer in headlights, for 7 minutes when told about 9/11, he now looks completely perplexed by the geo politicl problems he now faces. Clinton understood the game completely as do John Edwards, Obama and most of the dem presidential hopefuls, Biden and Dodd. They are all 30/60 players. None of the republicans are playing above 2/4 and so are very dangerous. I am praying the people can see this, but have little hope! Everything the neo cons have done has been wrong. Put a 2/4 poker player in a 30/60game and they willl lose their money real fast and no amount of luck can save them. cheers, Chuck
