Reagan was condemned by the left in his time just as Bush has been and Rudy or the next Republican candidate will be. The left said Reagan was a dunce who wanted war with the Soviet Union. That he didn't care about the poor and just wanted to enrich his cronies. Blah blah - its always the same. Rudy is being targeted now because he was a very popular and successful mayor in a big blue city in a big blue state. He retains that popularity making him a potentially formidable candidate. That frightens the left so it attacks him calling him a thug and would-be tyrant.
