My total return should have come in around 6% for the year
(that is what I looked to do as of about April) but thanks
to terrible biotech choices, rotten timing, and maybe
even some bad luck, I'm probably going to come in around
a total return of 3%--well below inflation and far below
what depreciation of the US dollar suggests.

Just a lousy rotten year.

I saw in the paper yesterday even Etrade was looking
unsteady. I had to root around to be sure I had written
confirmation that I have FDIC insured deposits.
This is just amazing--that I would have to consider the
risk of a potential run on a bank.

And as poorly as my little biotech has done, it has only
matched the lousy performance of, say, Washington Mutual.

(both down 50% in six months).

I'll console myself with the fact that there are 101 ways
to lose money, and being a dumbass is just one of them.
