Well, here's an additional tidbit for you on Ben's speech. The last time a Fed Chairman gave a speech in San Antonio was....2000. AND...Chucky Prince was supposed to introduce Ben...didn't make it. They deferred the intro to some other Citigroup "less luminary".

Microfinance? WTF does microcredit have that a credit card doesn't?!

I'm doing a volunteer stint at a microfinance institution here in Cambodia. The program is a godsend for borrowers. That's only because they have no choice. Banks won't touch 'em because the overhead is too high on such small loans. The only other choice, local money lenders, charge over 15% or more a month. Even so, the MFI I'm working at charges 3% a month.
