ways to make it easier for people with minor criminal records to join the military,

Is that really that bad? Used to be the Judge told a teenager, "go to jail or join up." If his Intelligence test is high enough, and the trouble is minor, why not? You don't want wimps in the Military.

Eventually, UW, you are going to realize that reinstating the draft will never happen.

After reading this, I wonder if reconstituting the draft is the way to increase the standards of new recruits entering the military today.

No problem. Just hire Lee Marvin and he will get up a team like "The Dirty Dozen" or William Holden and his "Devil's Brigade". ;-)

Seriously, I believe we have a significant problem. In spite of the fact that the pay has been jacked up a good deal, the inventory of top qualified enlistees has shrunk. IMO, a draft should be instituted with a lower age grouping. Congress could place a sunset provision on the bill to mollify those opposing any kind of a draft.

OMG, I'm beginning to sound like Rangel from NY.
