We need a sea-change in our military leadership. We need a sea-change in our strategy. To get them, we need a sea-change in our priorities and only a sea-change in national leadership will accomplish that.

I don't really see it in either party, because basically the American people themselves don't really see it as a threat. We haven't bled enough yet. This war will probably have to go nuclear/WMD before the majority of the population take it seriously, and it's coming. What the hell, let it come. I don't live in a city so the statistics are in my favor.

I'm not sure I understand what you are suggesting, but IMHO we got TOO MANY GENERALS running around Washington looking for ways to justify themselves cause there arent enough TROOPS for them to command. As to waiving MINOR criminal complaints like one time weed use, I have absolutely no problem with that, in fact I wonder if the policy ever should have existed. I joined the USMC when the draft DID exist, and frankly, I didnt want to get drafted into the Army which among other things encouraged my Marine enlistment. I entered through Philly and most of the recruits on the "troop train" going to Parriss Island were inner city kids from NYC and PHILLY and believe me the average Citizen wouldnt have wanted to meet these guys on a dark night. But, you know what, the drill instructors at boot camp made damn good Marines out of MOST of them. Those that didnt or couldnt conform to military standards were pretty quickly weeded out. jdn
