I was watching this movie about the Doors. In 1967 they went on the ED Sullivan show to perform their smash hit "Light My Fire"
The shows producer told the band members that the word "higher" is ok for Radio censors but that its not ok for the TV censors. He said to change the word "higher" to "better". The band members told the lead singer Jim Morrison that in 1966 the Rolling Stones
were told by the very same producer to change the lyrics of "Lets Spend The Night Together"
to "Lets Spend some Time Together" which they did. Jim Morrison said he didn't care and went live on TV shouting out the word "HIGHER" while the TV producers were having fits in the studio. Of course Ed Sullivan never invited them back.
The irony about this story is that the Rolling Stones song Lets Spend The Night together has the words "Im high" in it. Which the producers did not find because they were so up tight with the name of the song. Not only that, if you read the lyrics of this song you will be amazed as the entire song is based on oral sex. LMAO!
