Most Latinos when look back to their history do not regard the battle with the Southern Texans as a fair battle. The Mexican army did have a stronger troop than Texans until an overnight ambush in New Mexico which annihilated most of their elite army. Their defeat ultimately led to recognize the country of Texas, which Mexicans regarded as theirs, along with New Mexico, Arizona, & Southern California.
