"Whether the Right Honorable Gentleman likes it or not, the coming into being of a Jewish State in Palestine is an event in world history to be viewed in the perspective, not of a generation or a century, but in the perspective of a thousand, two thousand, or even three thousand years." Israel was just recompense, Churchill felt, not only for what the Jews of Europe had lost but for what they had given to civilization over the centuries.

When the Arabs had the territory called Israel, they did nothing with the land except have sheep any asses feeding off of the land. But, once the Jews regained Israel they have made it a productive nation and made the desert bloom. Plus, we can not have a better ally.

I must admit that I have very similar feelings about Judaism to those that Winston Churchill had even though none were as powerful of an influence on me. I often refer to Judeo-Chrstian Ethos. It is true that Israel is a great ally to the US in a world in which me might have three good allies. More importantly, they have made the land what it is and they have earned the right to occupy the land that G*d gove to them.
