Right. I agree that Chambers was being forthright and accurate in his statements, which is why he's a top-notch CEO. All I'm saying is that when Chambers acknowledges that the US economy is challenging, that is a rather resounding confirmation of what most people had already been feeling. That has two immediate effects: 1) people get jiddery on the US economy as a whole and 2) people worry about Cisco's stock price near term, because it was priced for optimism, not a does of reality.

That is why we saw the sell-off. For those of us who are long term thinkers and investors, it doesn't matter. But it does increase the volatility of the stock. I'm not selling, though. I'm holding out for $40-50 by 2010, as I stated a long time ago.
