My worst experience in recent decades was in Beijing a few years ago when I think I might have contracted sars, which had not long before "disappeared". I shivered in bed for days and wondered whether I would succumb. I didn't bother with "medical" treatment in Beijing as I suspected I would be taken prisoner and forced to take treatments which would assuredly not act against sars and would no doubt do me harm. There was also a great likelihood that it wasn't sars. My treatment is to head to bed, snuggle up warm and sleep at will, having nice cups of tea and maybe some soothing lemon drinks. It's a pleasant couple of days feeling sorry for myself, being totally self-indulgent. I gave up keeping going as though nothing was wrong decades ago when, after about 3 weeks sick, I ended up with pneumonia, coughing up blood and REALLY feeling bad. I think my diet in those days was bad and I had sub-clinical scurvy and perhaps other deficiencies. Now, bugs don't get a chance to get a grip. There's the old joke that to treat a cold, you can do back rubs, acupuncture, drink witch's brew and chant incantations, and you will be completely better in only 7 days, or you can do nothing, rest in bed and have a nice sleep, and you will be better in a week. If the procedure you use is so good, you could provide it to H5N1 and sars victims. If it seemed to work so well, you no doubt just had an infection of a mild nature, of which there are plenty. Like bubbles in Uncle Al KBE's theories, you only know they are bubbles AFTER the event. Similarly, when you get an infection, you don't know whether it's H5N1 or just a sniffle. No doubt, your back rubs and hot cups treated the sniffle variety. So, you think you were saved from sars. Which makes excellent business for charlatans. They "cure" 90% of people, who in fact have only a sniffle, and those who have sars and H5N1 get buried, or ignored as unusual. Mqurice
