Most Americans don't even know what the debate should be about. I want competent Government across all levels of responsibility. The debate may not even be about should we or shouldn't we stay in Iraq - that might have already been decided. With the war costing over 600 billion $$$ in hard costs and trillions in soft costs (eg. paying complete disability/medical to 1000's of veterans for 60 years) it may become apparent that we simply cannot afford war anymore. If Bush needed 200 Billion $ with the dollar index at 84 does he really need 240 billion $ if the Dx goes to 70? Thats some wicked inflation. The thing is there are a lot of countries out there with trillions of US Dollars who won't give crap about us if they panic out of the dollar trying to get whatever they can. It's possible China may willingly convert to Ero's for two reasons - protect value and hurt America. Right now thats a bigger security threat than "terrorists". In that respect - taking our eyes off the economic ball - Osama Bin Laden has had a major victory - its just too bad that most Americans don't even know the real issues. Giving or not giving driver's licenses to illegals is a really minor side issue if 10 years from now a large proportion of senior Americans have to eat dog food to survive because they live in a bankrupt society. Our economic future may be in the hands of countries - that hold a lot of dollars - that are not that friendly towards us.
