>It's understandable that you didn't have time to take them somewhere to get something to eat but how long would it have taken for you to reach in your wallet and give her a ten dollar bill?

Not very long, but that's not what she asked for, and frankly, there are now lots and lots of people on the streets of Manhattan even if I could feed her (and I do give money out to panhandlers pretty often), I can't feed all of them. We need to fix the system.

>Your solution (so YOU won't feel guilty) is to raise taxes where that $10 you could have directly given to the person who needed it would turn into $2 (best case) after the cost of administration and distribution is deducted.

Where do you get that for the best case scenario?

Your solution (so YOU won't feel guilty) is to raise taxes where that $10 you could have directly given to the person who needed it would turn into $2 (best case) after the cost of administration and distribution is deducted.

It would have been a very temporary fix that does not even begin to address the problem at all. Is that how you solve all your problems?
