I though that "Primary Colors" was an ambivalent, but ultimately a pro-Clinton book. It conveyed a sense that Bill is smart and that his heart is in the right place, and that he still deserves to be respected and liked - despite his skirt chasing and quirks. Klein's book, in a sense, "immunized" the public to BC's controversial behavior; it made him appear more "human" and acceptable.

I find it hard to imagine that democrats would choose John (of "John and I" glory) Edwards, who does appear to be a bit of a lightweight... but who knows - It seems that ALL candidates suddenly acquire lots of gravitas ... after they get the nomination -g
