I knew it was going to be a piece of crap when I saw the trailer. Who wants to spend ten bucks per to watch Redford preach at you in the most sanctimonious fashion for 88 minutes? I say, take your hairpiece and go to hell, Bob.

Some of the few people to see the Lions for Lambs bomb write about it

You aren't kidding. I read through a few pages of reviews. After about 50 reviews I found two positive ones, from lefties who thought the movie told "hard truths". Even most of the Democratic reviewers said that the movie was preachy and put them to sleep. The Republican reviewers said things like, "Just shoot me, please." My favorite review was from the Cuban exile who asked plaintively in broken English why the people who made this movie were still living in this country if they hated it so much? He thought they needed to move to a Communist country.

Preliminary numbers show it did $970/screen and and $2.1 million on opening night. It is a failure. American Gangster in it's second week is doing $2360/screen and Bee Movie also second week is $1591/screen.

Even if Streep and Cruise worked for free, they will not get the production costs back on this one.
