this may not be an indicator of where we might be headed. actions like this particular time period seem to require a violent and major blowout where pain is replaced by outright fear. hopefully this does not happen (i am not fond of 1000 plus drops on the dow). on the plus side, nov to jan are generally pretty positive months.

it is interesting how the extent of the subprime problem has been roughly quantified to 150 to 500 billion. although bad, it is kind of reassuring.

I think you are right. This hysteria won't last forever and companies like Cisco continue to print money. Investing now at firesale prices is a good idea.
