I do remember there was a time when American markets went down, the rest of the world would follow but apparently, that's changed too.

Yeah, it used to be automatic. Although we are still a big part of the world economy our influence is waning. The day is coming fast when we realize we can't afford our huge military and foreign adventure costs, and then maybe we can get back to our roots as an economic and political, not military super power. </optimism>
