This seems to indicate that there was mixing of blood lines prior to Sally Hemming's birth-----that argues for the DNA line being there in previous generations.

Sally Hemings was the half-sister of Jefferson's wife. She was 3/4 white and was described by a fellow slave as looking "purdy near white" with straight brown hair.

The presentation we heard in 2002 from descendants of this issue, stated that both the Monticello Association and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation don't necessarily agree. There were 6 people at the presentation, 3 from each side, and all were white in appearance. They all get along well, and commented that there are only 3 of all the known descendants (as I recall) that had any different coloring than they did.

The entire audience as well as the presenters, laughed at the remarks that Jesse Jackson continues to make about "reparations for slavery". He continues to talk and doesn't know what he is saying.

The second link I presented (I think you were stuck on the first one) said this:

Snip >>>>>In May 2002 the Monticello Association (descendants of Thomas Jefferson) voted to not admit descendants of Sally Hemings into their organization. The decision came after their careful review of all available information resulting in the conclusion that there was not sufficient evidence to prove Jefferson fathered Hemings' children.

On February 24, 2003, The Thomas Jefferson (Memorial) Foundation revised their statement regarding the children of Sally Hemings:

"Although the relationship between Jefferson and Sally Hemings has been for many years, and will surely continue to be, a subject of intense interest to historians and the public, the evidence is not definitive, and the complete story may never be known. The Foundation encourages our visitors and patrons, based on what evidence does exist, to make up their own minds as to the true nature of the relationship."
Their previous statement dated July 15, 2002, read as follows:

"It likely will take newly uncovered historical evidence or scientific methods still unknown to determine beyond doubt the truth about Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings, and the complete story may never be known. The Thomas Jefferson Foundation stands by its original findings - that the weight of evidence suggests that Jefferson probably was the father of Eston Hemings and perhaps the father of all of Sally Hemings' children - but is ready to review new evidence at any time and to reassess its understanding of this matter in the light of new information."
This revised statement can be found at: monticello.org

Also, the 4th link shows more info published this year....2007 with the results of the markers. I respect all of the scientists working on the pros and cons of their studies.

It would be good to think there was equal application to diligence in the current "global warming hysteria"....I fear there is not....Al Gore is too happy to hype the issue, and pay no attention whatsoever to any long term work.

Main article: Jefferson DNA data
Direct male-line sons of a cousin of United States president Thomas Jefferson were DNA tested to investigate historical assertions that Jefferson fathered children with at least one of his slaves.[1] An extended 17-marker haplotype was published in 2007, [2] and the company Family Tree DNA has also published results for other markers in its standard first 12-marker panel.[3] Combining these sources gives the consolidated 21-marker haplotype below. The Jeffersons belong to Haplogroup K2.
