Whether companies are doing well, just ok, or poorly they have an incentive to maximize their profits. Higher corporate taxes in the US than in many other developed nations gives an incentive at the margin for investment to shift to other countries. And many of those companies are producing commodities that require cheap labor and overhead expenses to compete in the market place. In that arena the US can never compete with an India or Costa Rica. But while moving their facilities over to those countries, the complaint those companies voice [because they are good little GOPers] is that taxes are too high in the US. And I won't ignore 3M because they have been playing this game since I was growing up in MN. Only back then they were moving their plants to the Dakotas and to Tennessee because MN taxes were too high when the truth is 3M needs cheap labor and overhead to be competitive so it can sell its tape. They produce a lot of cheap commodities that it makes no sense to produce in the US. But they blame it all on US taxes. You see there has been an ongoing theme in the US for some time.....and its not just about too high corporate taxes. Whatever pisses off GOPers they find a way to connect it with some fear.....fear of losing an industry, fear of socialism, fear of getting nuked, fear of getting attacked, fear of wrathful God, etc., and that's how they present it to the American public. And because most people don't believe they would misrepresent the truth esp. because those GOPers are in high positions they are believed......hook, line and sinker. But now it stops! You all have played the game for far too long.
