I've noticed it because I have some individual stock investments in overseas markets, and the stocks are doing well this year, but the US$ return of the overseas stocks is fantastic because you also get a 10%-20% currency boost depending on the country. The dramatic rise in the price of oil is also partially due to the decline of the dollar. If oil were measured in euros its gain over the past 2-3 years is large, but much less than the % gain in oil price when measured in US dollars.
