Hey, if ETrade is liquidated, someone is bound to buy the online brokerage business. So why lift a finger? My accounts are going to be automatically transfered to Schwab or Fidelity anyway.

Etrade will get merged out of existence.

For a little history follow the E.F.Hutton story. They got caught in a check kiting scheme back in the '80s.
