I find it highly ironic that she would care about the response from the critics. You misunderstood Barbara. Ayn expected the critics to dislike her. But she expected key leaders, Businessmen, Philosophers, etc, to speak out in support of her. No one did. At that time she still confused Conservatives with people who would support her. And she didn't realize the depth of the rejection she would get because of her totally Secular approach. And her rejection of Religion.
