And I guess neither of those applies to non-primary housing? How do they go about determining whether a given home/condo/swamp in Florida is a primary residence or not?

You have to sign up for the homestead exemption


But if I bought a condo in Florida as an investment and never lived there, what's to stop me from signing up for the homestead exemption, and it would look like my primary residence, even though I do not and never plan to live there? I guess it's probably illegal and I could get tossed in the slammer (if they can find me). Anything else?
