All trade with China would be suspended until they meet our standards of safety. If I needed to I'd devalue the currency to make their products expensive and they'd get pennies on the dollar for the stockpile of our money (debt) they own.

I think there are lots of reasons for China coming up the ladder seemingly so quickly.

THey have many times the number of people we do and those people have to be fed. Better they make furniture than bombs...

Also, if we in the US wanted to pay more money (usually LOTS more for a product) China wouldn't be making so much money, and wouldn't be owning our debt... Our own American Unions have just about priced our products out of the price we are willing and able to pay, so our manufacturers are trying to stay in business, so go overseas to manufacture the products.
