Bush has to keep saying it and back it up with a plan for withdrawl that is both transparent and credible. Then lets see if pelosi and reid continue to attack. IF they do, they will only be helping republicans in 08. But bush has not said said the exit word yet, other than in a most general, non-specific way.

Our country prospers under leadership where political opponents comport themselves with honor and civility. Just as in healthy competition of sports, when the victor emerges, both sides should have benefitted by honing their skills to a finer edge. The baneful perniciousness of one side against the other in American politics, over the past few years, has cost far more than it has helped and the risks going forward with more of the same carry a price too high for any of us to bear.

Political rivals leading the ‘United’ people of the ‘United States of America’ need not be personal enemies anymore than opponents in a tennis match with the common goal of good health through competitive sports should be personal enemies. This type of conduct must stop now for the good of all concerned.

This time represents one of those rare opportunities for all sides to bury the hatchets, and mend fences to strike a common cord. Nancy Pelosi has continually called for honest and ethical leadership in congress. She has consistently and historically been an anti-war advocate, which is not on the same level as the anything goes bush bashing slanderers, who would be all for a Clinton declared war. She has stood by her principles and presented ethical arguments on the issues. She deserves to be respected for that.
