I already planning my retirement without SS in mind. Good for you. Hope things work out. If you were to be disabled, for instance, you would become the burden. I suggest everyone else in my generation do the same, lest they want to end up being a burden on "Gen Y" like the Baby Boomers are going to end up on Gen X. And like my parents were a burden on me? Somehow I don't see it that way. I would have to live a long, long time to be a burden on you... in fact you would probably be about to receive benefits yourself.
