i posted an article last week on bills thread. politics. autism is striking one in fifty eight new borns in england. they are not prepared to handle it in their medical system or education system. Ireland it took four months for a mother to get a doctor appointment to have child evaluated for autism. It was confirmed however to get the social support from medical field their is a huge waiting list , years , not months. She now goes to private practice for $1000 a month to get her child tutored or therapy.

My grandson was just evaluated as autistic. the system quickly took over. He now once confirmed by specialist has access to all the support determined via testing etc. He immediately qualifies for medicaid , social worker was there within the week. three additional workers were assigned to the case , he was presently getting 3 hours of assistance for speech etc weekly, now seven to ten. In the next couple of months he will be up to five hours daily at an outside facilty. the parent provide transportation but from there on his environment is all structured under the various programs.

I remember the ceo of Aetna a few weeks ago on Fox saying over 10 million of the 40 million not covered by health insurance are covered under medicaid the problem is the parents not filling forms to get their child in the medicaid programs.

I hope folks when voting seriously look at todays health system in the united states vs social medicine. I had two cousins in canada have major operations. both had to go to other provinces for surgery and one ran into complications. both were in the area for weeks to months.. the family had to cover all costs of travel and lodging throughout the period. I am not aware of most in the united states who have to travel long distances to get medical surgery. another one had stomach cancer and had to wait three weeks for surgery as the doctor only flies into the providence once a week.
