I like the sound of mission completed. The one thing i have learned over the years on these threads is the insanity of both sets of wingnuts--left and right. Nadine is for perpetual war and some leftys are for perpetual america bashing.
We went into iraq because we thought it was low hanging fruit and we could leverage our afganistan success to change the arab world and mindset. Any chance it had of working was killed by rummy war on the cheap or our simple minded assumption that iraq would be exactly like afganistan not that afganistan turned out to be as easy as it once seemed. But we did have achievements in iraq. Getting rid of saddam and his sons sleazy and queasy were good things. I wouldnt call current iraq a democracy but it is more representative of the folks who live there than ever before. Its as good as we can get and to continue this war to get to nadines nirvana is a losing proposition. Lets not squander the real gains we recently have made by going in deeper at this point. Time for the various iraqis to take the next step with international help and help from neighbors. US needs to reposition because the world is no safer than before and there are real threats out there.
