I hate the idea of a new tax. That said, what of small business owners that have to compete? Walmart and the internet are killing them and some money (profit) for local businesses is being taken away. This is one reason why I want to see our tax system changed to a tax a point of sale (SS and everything). Another reason is to dial down the size of the IRS. Yet another benefit is it would put the responsibility on the Government to keep our economy strong. When the economy stinks its generally as a result of the Govt. Tax receipts should go down when they screw things up! These are just thoughts - I'm not sure if I'm right or wrong but I am sure we need to have a thoughtful discussion on the topic. I don't have the answers but I think I have some valid questions

There is NO tax a Dem didn't embrace fully..... On top of that, Buffett should be made to fully disclose his financial affairs for saying that an estate tax is necessary. I want to know how he has sheltered his before this goes any further. Same with Gates Sr....who usually speaks for Gates Jr as well. They want to spend OUR money, while THEIRS is in foundations and trusts, etc.... If Buffett wants to pay MORE taxes than he does, WHY doesn't he just write a check to the Government? He can certainly afford to do that.... How about a couple of BILLION to start with, Mr. Buffett???
