Hey... we could always CANCEL dollars and issue NEW DOLLARS as the only legal tender.

Maybe force folks to trade in their old 'confederate money' for the new bucks at a preferential exchange rate (preferential for the government, of course) of 100 to 1 say.

(Perhaps you could call the new bucks "Bush Dollars" or something! :-)

Several third World nations have resorted to such actions when their currency lost too much value and people lost confidence it it....

That could work for a while... but it wouldn't change any of the underlying economic problems... and would add some new ones to the mix.
