Stalin?? Bob Herbert?? We're talking about what the term "state's rights" means to southerners who used it the Civil War era and who use it now. Reagan's knew damn well what he was talking about it when he used it in Philadelphia, Mississippi. What other term could the South have used to try and justify slavery? Reagan also knew what he was doing when he gave a speech in Bitberg, Germany, the location of a Nazi and SS soldiers cemetery. Why were Phila. and Bitberg chosen??
Try this....why was the South called the Solid South for democrats after the Civil War? Hint.....Lincoln was republican.

No. That's your "logic." If liberals were going to Moscow and making speeches about "getting rid of class inequality," then, yeah, you might have a point. But your analogy does not stand here. Not at all.
