It's very important to draw out the distinction between income and wealth, because I've been pointing this out for quite a while.

People who are already rich don't care about jacking up income taxes, because they know it will never affect them.

People who aren't rich yet but have the greatest capacity to become rich will be screwed over by high income taxes, because their income is the very means by which they will become rich. Hence their only alternative is to effectively "win the lottery," if you get my drift.
