Their policies are not all that different. So for many people it comes down to intangibles.

It's not just that Obama is "brown", it's because he appears to have a more "worldly image" compared to the other candidates.

Who do YOU think would be the most popular choice outside this country? It's not the over-riding issue, but it is an issue after the harm that Bush has done. It's something to consider... and frankly I hadn't thought much about it until I read the article.

I think you may be oversimplifying the author's message.
