tc, there's better analysis right here, starting with the immediate reaction to Keitel's '08 numbers, which are historically low to start. Then there's such a long list of wild cards like litigations, arbitrations, negotiations, China 3G and 450, chipset share and customers, and so on... that an '09 number is just out of the hat.

I just like the sentiment of Goldman saying "wait it out". That's pretty down to earth.

To me this means that GS has not included nok royalties in their 2009 estimate and hence GS does not expect settlement or payment before the end of 2009.

Confirmed by upbeat review by analysts at yesterdays annual technology meeting. :

"We believe that the market has already removed future Nokia royalty payments from Qualcomm's earnings estimates," Faucette (Pacific Crest Analyst) wrote. The market, he added, has also ignored the "developing value of new initiatives for the company, including its Snapdragon line of chipsets.....new opportunities for Qualcomm are "severely underpriced."

Barring negative macro events, the shares have bottomed and are gaining mo. ihavenoidea.

Thanks for your PM. Since I am not a paid subscriber, I could not answer your PM by the same mean.

Regarding Nokia's contigent liabilities, I noticed on page 15 of it's press release dated 10/18/07, the amount of contigent liabilities on behalf of group company was increased from Euro Million 407 at 9/30/06 to Euro million 2,540 at 9/30/07. This was an increase of over 2.1 Billion Euro. I am wandering whether this amount included all liabilities under the licensing agreement with Qualcomm?
